The modern Mullard KT88 is a current-production beam power tetrode vacuum tube manufactured in Russia (by New Sensor) and marketed as an affordable replacement for high-fidelity (Hi-Fi) stereo amplifiers and heavy-duty guitar amps like the Marshall Major. [1, 2, 3]
