The Electro-Harmonix 12AX7-EH / ECC83 is a high-gain, dual-triode vacuum tube manufactured in Saratov, Russia, by the New Sensor Corporation. It serves as a direct replacement for standard 12AX7, ECC83, and 7025 preamp tubes. [1, 2, 3]
Key Features & Design
Spiral Filament: Features a unique spiral heater filament that counteracts and eliminates cathode-to-filament AC-powered hum. [1, 2]
Short Plate Structure: Helps reduce microphonics and unwanted feedback in high-gain guitar and audio amplifiers. [1, 2]
Gain & Output: Delivers a robust gain (around 90–100 μ) with an ultra-low noise floor and responsive overdrive characteristics. [1, 2]
Gold Pin Option: An upgraded version (Electro-Harmonix Gold 12AX7) features gold-plated pins for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance. [1]
